KKAR Omaha NE-1290

During quite good Midwest conditions the 18th of November 2009 I caught KKAR with a announcement as "..on newstalk 12-90 K-car KKAR Omaha". As I didn´t get them verified I tried with a f/up a few days ago and instantly got a nice reply from Mike Laughter, Regional Engineer at NRG Media verifying my receptionreport. He is an avid post card collector, soon owner of a nice post card from Sala!
Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska located along the Missouri River in the easternmost part of the state. Nicknamed as "Gateway to the west" the town has now a  population of about 500 000.
The call letters KKAR was in June 2012  switched to KOIL (the station was originally owned by the Mona Oil Company, hence the "OIL" in the call letters)  and can now be heard as "The mighty 1290 KOIL"

SLAM!FM Blerick -89,2

In the afternoon of 14th of July I had a short in distance Eskip towards the Benelux countries. Slam!FM was found on two QRG´s 89,2 and 91,1 MHz with  "Slam 40" the weekly hitlist. This was the first time I´ve heard Nederlands on FM  so I was very pleased to receive a verification from Lynn Slabbers a few days ago.

WNBF Binghamton NY -1290

this is one of the easier  US stations on the QRG here in Sweden and I heard them just after the TOH news as "Newsradio 12-90 WNBF" then back to the C2C program.
Situated just north of the PA/NY border at the junction of the Susquehanna and the Chenango Rivers. The town is named after a wealthy Philadelphian banker, William Bingham, who bought the surrounding land in 1792. Binghamton has a humid continental climate with cold, snowy winters and warm wet summers. The snowfall is significant, with an annual total of 196 cm.The reason is northwestern storms from the nearby greater lakes/ Finger lakes.
Rick Elliker, C.E. confirmed my reception.

HJDS Ondas de la Montaña, Medellin -1350

was caught with huge signals the 7th of January, fighting with the co-channel station  Oxígeno Ibague.   Identified as "Ondas de la Montaña - La tradicional de Antioquia"  in their programme La Escencia.
Located in the second largest city in Colombia with a population 2.7 million,at an elevation of 1,500 meters in the northern part of the Andes. Sometimes referred as "The home of Orchids,Parks and tropical birds". With a average annual temp of 22°C it sounds like a heaven for a frozen Scandinavian...
Pablo Escobar, the Colombian drug Lord began his criminal career here, but a nicer guy is Juanes , the famous musician, who can be heard quite often even on Swedish radiostations.
V/s  Ruben Benjumea  verified my followup today, many thanks !

Myanma Radio and Television -5985

This mystical country have had some good days with strong signals both on 5985 (or actually 5985,86) and the new 7110.  The 11th of April I heard the 49mb QRG with a clear signal and many old  pop songs of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone. Send them a email report and a few weeks later I could to pick up a registered mail at the post office with many beutiful stamps on the envelope.  Confirmed with a letter and QSL card by Win Aung, Director
The country is located on the bay of Bengal and the Andaman sea coast. Naypyitaw  is the newly formed capital of Myanmar and replaced Yangon as the capital in 2005. Population of over 60 million . The country is divided into seven states and seven regions where Naypyitaw is located in the central Mandalay region.

WAOC St Augustine FL -1420

was another FL station that came thru on this QRG  the fantastic day of 24th of October last year.  "ESPN 14-20 WAOC St Augustine..." was part of the TOH ID I heard. At the same time my friend Torolf Johnsson in Soderlajde caught them too.  The city with a population of 13000, situated in the northeast section of Florida, is known as the "Ancient City" due to its Spanish Colonial buildings and cobblestone streets.
Kris Phillips, President verified my reception with a nice letter.
